To MWLA Members and Friends
This past Tuesday, Feb. 10th, the MW Town Board voted to amend its 2022 Land Use Plan Map
to designate as an agricultural parcel Tom Baer's 35-acre property on Townline Rd., on
which he intends to build a 15-acre cranberry marsh. The 3-0 vote included yeas from
Town Chairman John
Hanson and Supervisor Henry Baers, both of whom had voted against the
amendment at the Plan Commission
level (where the vote was 4-3 to recommend the project - the other negative vote was cast
by Vince Hoehn). Supervisor Mike Bartling supported the proposal at both levels.
Rezoning is a two-step process. The second step, after the affirmative vote, means that
Tom Baer may now petition the Town for a rezoning of the land for agricultural use. If he
does so, a hearing will be held before the Plan Commission. This has not yet
been scheduled. We will post the date on the MWLA website: www.mwlakes.com
at the Government Relations link.
John Hanson said at the
meeting that he would like to see a hydrology study done when the rezoning is requested.
Tom Baer said that full engineering plans will be forthcoming. Both Hanson and Bauers had
toured the site after the Plan
Commission vote. They said the visit helped change their opinions.
Tom Baer confirmed that he has withdrawn from consideration his 44-acre parcel near Twin
Pines Rd.
This Email Alert is one of several sent recently about zoning and dam matters. We try to
keep the number of alerts to a minimum but also feel that those of you away from MW would
want to know what has occurred in your absence. You may withdraw your name from our Email
Alert list at any time by emailing mwmailbox@yahoo.com.
You can always check our website for updates (address above).
